Today, Bungie announced a 20% price increase for Destiny 2’s standalone season passes, raising the cost from 1,000 to 1,200 Silver, or $10 to $12 per season. They also revealed a 10% increase for season pass rank bundles, making the +10 Ranks Bundle go from 2,000 to 2,200 Silver, or $20 to $22.
This price increase won’t affect players who purchased the deluxe version of Destiny 2: Lightfall, which includes a full year of seasonal access. The change will apply from the next major expansion, The Final Shape.
Bungie did not provide a specific reason for the price hike but mentioned their commitment to creating compelling seasonal content for Lightfall’s year. They plan to evaluate new approaches for post-launch content in The Final Shape’s year. Hopefully, this means improved quality in future content to justify the increased cost.
