A recent report by Kotaku suggests that Ubisoft’s upcoming Star Wars game, known as Project Helix, may be released in early 2024.
According to the report, the game is currently scheduled to launch within the fiscal year of April 2023 to March 2024. It is considered as one of the significant games mentioned in Ubisoft’s recent earnings call. However, the sources mentioned by Kotaku believe that the current target might be too ambitious, and the release is likely to be delayed until the next fiscal year, from April 2024 to March 2025. If this turns out to be true, we might expect some announcement about the game at this year’s Ubisoft Forward event.
Insider Gaming has confirmed through its sources that the game is indeed called Project Helix, but they couldn’t verify the expected release date.
Sources reveal that Ubisoft intends to be more cautious with its announcements going forward, aiming to improve its public perception. Due to repeated delays with projects like Skull & Bones, the publisher now wants to announce titles when they are confident about meeting their projected release dates.
Personally, I believe Project Helix is still a couple of years away. Ubisoft Massive has been heavily focused on the development of Avatar recently, and if they face any difficulties in meeting deadlines, the progress of Project Helix might be temporarily halted.
