Fans of the cult classic Alan Wake can now pre-purchase the long-awaited sequel, Alan Wake 2, on the Epic Games Store. The game, which is developed by Remedy Entertainment and published by Epic Games Publishing, is set to release on October 27, 2023, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Alan Wake 2 is a survival horror game that follows the story of two protagonists: Alan Wake, a best-selling thriller novelist who has been trapped in an alternate dimension for 13 years, and Saga Anderson, an FBI agent who is investigating a series of ritualistic murders in the town of Bright Falls, Washington. The game features two separate single-player stories that can be played in any order, as well as a dialogue tree system, detective elements, and a flashlight-based combat system.
According to Remedy Entertainment, Alan Wake 2 is a sequel but set up as a stand-alone experience, meaning that newcomers can enjoy the game without any prior knowledge of the original Alan Wake. However, returning fans will also find plenty of lore and connections to the previous game and other Remedy titles, such as Control and Max Payne.
Alan Wake 2 is available in two editions: the Standard Edition, which includes the base game, and the Deluxe Edition, which includes the base game and the Expansion Pass. The Expansion Pass consists of two full expansions: Night Springs and Lake House, as well as exclusive skins and outfits for both Alan and Saga. The Deluxe Edition also comes with a Lantern Charm for Saga, which can be used to customize her flashlight.

Alan Wake 2 is a digital-only release, meaning that there are no plans to release the game on disc. According to Remedy Entertainment, this decision was made to keep the price of the game lower and to avoid requiring a download for the disc product.
Those who pre-purchase Alan Wake 2 on the Epic Games Store will receive a bonus soundtrack album featuring original music composed by Petri Alanko, who also composed the music for the first Alan Wake game.

Alan Wake 2 Not Coming to Steam
Alan Wake 2 is not available on Steam. It is an Epic Games Store exclusive on PC, published by Epic Games Publishing. Remedy Entertainment made a deal with Epic Games to publish their next two games, the first being Alan Wake Remastered and the second being Alan Wake 2.
