As part of the Game Boy – Nintendo Switch Online library, Nintendo Switch Online members can now enjoy The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons.

These two games are spin-offs of the action-adventure The Legend of Zelda series, developed by Flagship, a Capcom subsidiary, and released in 2001 for the Game Boy Color. They were re-released on the Virtual Console for the Nintendo 3DS in 2013, and this is their first time on Nintendo Switch.

Oracle of Ages follows Link’s quest to stop Veran, the Sorceress of Shadows, from plunging Labrynna into eternal darkness. Link can manipulate time in this game (for example, he can move a stone in the past to change the course of a river in the present). He can also plant seeds in the past and see them grow into trees and vines in the present. Impa and the Maku Tree are some of the characters he meets.

Oracle of Seasons features Link’s adventure to defeat Onox, the general of darkness, in Holodrum. Link can alter the seasons in this game to save the dying land. For instance, he can use a flower that grows in spring to reach a high cliff, or freeze a lake in winter to walk on it.

The two games are connected by a password system that allows some changes and interactions between them. For example, some characters and enemies may appear differently, and some items may be upgraded or transferred. You can also uncover the hidden evil force behind everything.
