Four games are already confirmed for Xbox Game Pass in August 2023, but more will be revealed soon.
Xbox Games Showcase Extended 2023 was an event that followed the main Xbox Games Showcase on June 11, 2023. It featured more details and gameplay footage of some of the upcoming games for Xbox and Windows, as well as some new announcements and surprises.
One of the highlights of the event was the reveal of the new Xbox Game Pass games for August 2023, which included four titles that were confirmed beforehand and some more that were revealed during the show. Xbox Game Pass is a subscription service that gives access to over 100 games on Xbox consoles, Windows PCs, and mobile devices via cloud gaming.

The four Xbox Game Pass games for August 2023 are:
- Celeste – August 1
- Everspace 2 – August 15
- The Texas Chain Saw Massacre August 18
- Sea of Stars – August 29
Celeste is a special case among the new Xbox Game Pass games for August 2023, as it was actually announced as part of the July 2023 lineup. For some reason, Microsoft decided to give Xbox Game Pass subscribers a heads-up about Celeste, which is also a game that has been on the service before but was removed. Celeste is a challenging platformer with a touching story that has received rave reviews and awards. Fans of Celeste are eagerly awaiting the next game from developer Extremely OK Games, Earthblade.
Everspace 2 is joining the Xbox Game Pass console library on August 15, after being available on PC Game Pass since April. Everspace 2 is a space combat game that has received mostly positive feedback from PC players. It remains to be seen how console gamers will react to it, but it should be a welcome addition to the Game Pass catalog.
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is a new asymmetric multiplayer horror game that is coming to Xbox Game Pass on August 18. The game is inspired by the original Texas Chain Saw Massacre film from 1974 and pits three players as Leatherface and his family against four survivors. The game is similar to Dead by Daylight, which is a popular game in the genre. With Friday the 13th: The Game shutting down, there is an opportunity for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre to fill the gap.
The last confirmed game for Xbox Game Pass in August 2023 is Sea of Stars, which is coming on August 29. Sea of Stars is a turn-based RPG that is a prequel to The Messenger, a retro-style platformer that was also on Xbox Game Pass before. Sea of Stars has a beautiful pixel art style and a dynamic combat system that promises to be engaging and fun. Fans of classic RPGs should definitely check out Sea of Stars when it arrives on Xbox Game Pass.
