In a recent announcement on Friday, the company shared its impressive first-quarter earnings results, which span from January 1st to March 31st.
The open-world action RPG, Hogwarts Legacy, has achieved remarkable sales, surpassing 12 million copies sold and generating $850 million within the first fortnight after its release on February 10th for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms. This outstanding performance makes it the most successful game launch in Warner Bros. history.
To date, Hogwarts Legacy has accumulated over $1 billion in retail sales and more than 15 million units sold worldwide. Today, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav announced during the company’s earnings call (as transcribed by VGC) that the game is now available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms.
Hogwarts Legacy has joined the ranks of Warner Bros.’ other billion-dollar gaming franchises, such as Mortal Kombat, Game of Thrones, Lego games, and the DC gaming universe. The company has exciting plans for the future, including the release of Hogwarts Legacy on the Nintendo Switch later this year.
