In a surprising turn of events, the beloved Gotham Knights video game could be making its way to the Nintendo Switch. Gotham Knights, featuring the iconic superhero Batman and his superhero family, was initially met with mixed reviews and sales. Many believed it might fade into obscurity, but recent developments suggest otherwise.

Both the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) and a Singapore rating board have rated Gotham Knights for the Nintendo Switch. These new ratings from two different sources strongly indicate its impending release on the console. Notably, this is likely to be a native version of the Nintendo Switch, not a cloud-based adaptation.

Gotham Knights, an action role-playing game, allows players to control one of four members of the Batman Family as they navigate missions throughout Gotham City. Gameplay involves exploring open-world environments, investigating crime scenes, and battling criminals and villains. Combat primarily consists of melee-style moves like punches, kicks, and takedowns, accompanied by impact sounds and cries of pain. Occasionally, gunfire and explosions add intensity to combat sequences. Stealth attacks lead to brief cutscenes, featuring moves like slamming enemies’ heads into floors or walls, kicks and knees to the head, and close-range gunshots to enemies’ torsos. Some scenes include bloodstains on wounded characters’ faces and clothing, as well as around crime scenes. Autopsies can be performed on certain bodies during investigations.

This surprising development suggests that Gotham Knights for the Nintendo Switch may be released soon, possibly in time for the game’s one-year anniversary in October. With recent rumours of a new Nintendo Direct, this could be a potential announcement during the event. It’s worth noting that the game was originally released for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC, making its arrival on the Nintendo Switch quite intriguing, given the console’s hardware differences. Stay tuned for further updates on this exciting development!
