Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Plagued with Poor Performance and Negative Reviews on steam

Performance issues aside, Digital Foundry’s Alexander Battaglia uncovered another problem via Twitter. Jedi: Survivor’s overprotective DRM prevents users from installing the game on two computers in a short time span. Battaglia received the message “Too many computers have accessed this account’s version of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor recently” when attempting to install it on a second device.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor launched yesterday, and despite improvements and additional content compared to its predecessor, its performance leaves much to be desired. Morgan Park’s review for PCG mentioned “unacceptable performance,” though he was hopeful that a pre-release patch would resolve the issue. Unfortunately, according to Steam reviews and social media, the situation hasn’t improved.

Currently, Jedi: Survivor has a 31% Mostly Negative review score on Steam. Numerous players have shared their high-performance gaming systems’ specs and expressed their disappointment with the game’s poor performance.

Similar complaints can be found on platforms like Reddit. User astrangebiscuit described Jedi: Survivor as the “worst PC port” they’ve ever encountered, noting that even their powerful RTX 4080 couldn’t maintain 60fps. Others who pre-ordered and preloaded the game were shocked to see an estimated unpacking time of over a year, although this could be a Steam-related issue rather than a problem with Jedi: Survivor itself.

In the coming months, it’s likely that patches will improve the game’s performance. However, the recurring trend of major gaming companies releasing unfinished products at full price needs to be addressed. Titles like the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, The Last of Us, and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor demonstrate that this issue remains pervasive in the industry.
